MARTIN, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball head coach Kevin McMillan has announced the addition of prep standout Kaitlyn McCarn to the program’s 2024 signing class.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kaitlyn to our program,” McMillan said. “She has seen our program from afar over the years through her sister’s eyes and she knows the level of expectation it takes to be a Skyhawk. She is a proven winner with multiple state championships in multiple sport who is a fierce competitor that we feel can contribute at the guard position quickly.”
Kaitlyn McCarn, G, 5-8, Fr., Mountain View, Ark. (Mountain View HS)
McCarn joins the Skyhawks after a decorated prep career with stops at both Mountain View High School and Melbourne High School. As a dual sport athlete, she has secured four state championships throughout her prep career with back-to-back state basketball championships at Melbourne (2021 and 2022) before going back-to-back on the track at Mountain View (2023 and 2024.) The highly decorated athlete has recorded multiple all-conference and all-state recognition in basketball, cross country and track and field.
The 5-8 guard wrapped up her career on the hardwood at Mountain View where she played for head coach TJ Coleman. As a senior she averaged 21 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game on her way to all-state and all-state tournament honors. In her debut season with Yellowjackets she added 20.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 3.2 steals per game as a junior and was regarded as one of the top guards in the state of Arkansas throughout her career.
She began her high school career at Melbourne where she played alongside her sister and current Skyhawk standout Kenley McCarn. The tandem was part of four consecutive state championships for the Bearkatz with the younger sister joining in the ride for back-to-back state titles as a freshman and sophomore. Throughout her career, some of her top individual performances included a 38-point game against Cave City while also recording 18 rebounds against Salem.
McCarn joins a growing 2024 recruiting class which features four other commitments from Kayana Armbrister (Florida Atlantic), Daejah Richmond (Southeast Missouri), Taylor Scohy (Bellbrook HS) and Yar Tong (Edge Prep).
