
JACKSON, Tenn. – Trevor Lydic returned to Union University Athletics this May as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance. Lydic spent seven seasons as Union’s men’s basketball assistant coach from 2010-2018. Between then and now, he has served as men’s basketball assistant coach and interim head coach at Berry College, and assistant coach at Shorter University, both in Rome, Georgia.
Union Director of Athletics said, “Hiring Trevor Lydic as our compliance officer was an easy decision. I know Trevor, we all love Trevor, he knows our mission and he lives our mission. After spending years getting to know Trevor as a basketball coach, we have been looking for the opportunity to get him back. A good fit is what we are looking for and we are excited to have Trevor and his family back in Jackson and here at Union University.”
While interim head coach at Berry in 2021-22, he led the NCAA D3 Vikings to a 23-3 record. His squad won the Southen Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the D3 national tournament. Lydic was named the SAA Coach of the Year.
Lydic said, “I want to thank Dr. Oliver and Coach Mark Campbell for the opportunity to come back and serve at Union University. Union is a special place and I look forward to working with all the faculty, staff, and students.”
Lydic was named the Union men’s basketball assistant coach at the beginning of the 2010-11 season. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2016 and spent seven seasons coaching at Union. He spent three seasons (2007-2010) as the assistant coach at Pearl River (Miss.) Community College.
Lydic, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., earned his degree in exercise science from Asbury (Ky.) College in 2000. Lydic started his coaching career at Asbury where he was the student assistant coach for the men’s basketball team during the 1999-2000 campaign.
After graduation, Lydic returned home to work as the administrative assistant for the men’s basketball program at Colorado State University. In 2003-04, he was promoted to director of basketball operations at Colorado State. During the 2002-2003 season, Colorado State won the Mountain West Conference Tournament and played in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
In 2004, Lydic started work as a graduate assistant at Valdosta (Ga.) State University where he earned his master’s degree in Physical Education. He then moved to West Tennessee where he worked as the assistant coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin for one season. From 2007-10, Lydic was the assistant coach at Pearl River (Miss.) Community College. While at Pear River, the team won 61 games and Lydic was a key part of leading the team to the 2009-10 Mississippi JUCO State Championship with a 24-5 record.
Lydic also served as the head coach for Crossover Ministries and News Release Basketball summer traveling basketball teams that toured all across Europe.
Lydic and his wife Kayce were married May 15, 2016 and the couple have two children, Cole born in 2019 and Natalie born in 2024. He is the son of Gary and Debi Lydic.
