DYER, Tenn. — Gibson County High School would like to welcome its new softball head coach, Timothy Grapes. Coach Grapes comes from Ripley High School, where he was the head coach in softball and had fall coaching duties as an assistant football coach. He is married to Katie Grapes and has 3 young children, Allison(6), Joshua(5), and Benjamin(2).

Tim graduated from King University with a BS in Business in 2014 and received his MA in education from Bethel in 2017.

When asked about the hire, Michael Wickersham, Gibson County’s Athletic Director said, “It’s always hard to find good coaches, especially this time of year. All the good ones  are usually taken, but we got extremely lucky to get a great coach in Timothy Grapes. Coach Grapes will also be assisting during football season for the Pioneers. Coach Grapes was able to fill two important positions for us in our Athletic Department, and that is an extreme blessing for us. Our softball team has a great group of girls that made it to the regional semifinals this year and will need the leadership and knowledge that Coach Grapes can give them to get them over the top. I believe this group has a great shot of getting back to Murfreesboro in 2025.”

“I’m excited to build on the foundation and rich tradition of success in girls athletics at Gibson County,” said Grapes. “I can’t wait to meet the team and get to work.”
