Jacoby Jones Dies at age 40

JACKSON, Tenn. — Former Lane College football player and Super Bowl champion Jacoby Jones died Sunday morning at the age of 40.

According to multiple national sources, the cause of his death is still unavailable.

Jones played wide receiver at Lane College in Jackson from 2003-2006, earning All-SIAC honors each year as a Dragon. He was then drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

Jones is most known for his performance with the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII, scoring two touchdowns in the victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Following his NFL playing career, Jones would eventually return to his alma mater as Lane’s receivers coach in 2018.

Prior to his passing, Jones was inducted into the SIAC Hall of Fame last Wednesday, July 10. He recently celebrated his 40th birthday on July 11.
