The Rockabillys lost both games of their doubleheader against the Alton River Dragons tonight.
The purpose of the doubleheader was to make up the scheduled July 8 game between the two teams that had been postponed, but the Goats came up short both times tonight. In the first game, the River Dragons jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Ethan Rossow and Jackson Blemler drove in RBIs to tie the game at 2. However, a two-run homer from the River Dragons put them back up 4-2, and the Goats’ comeback attempt fell short as they lost the first game 4-3.
In the second game, it was never much of a contest, as the River Dragons used two monster home runs to power themselves to a 6-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning. They went up by as many as seven runs before the Goats added on a couple of late runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring the game to its final score of 8-3 in favor of Alton.
The Rockabillys fall to 8-7 in the second half of the season and 25-17 overall with the doubleheader losses. They will look to bounce back as they hit the road to challenge the South Division-leading O’Fallon Hoots tomorrow at 6:35 PM CDT.
