Rockabillys Comeback Attempt Comes Up Short In Loss To Bombers

The Rockabillys’ comeback attempt ran out of gas in the end as they narrowly fell to the Dubois County Bombers tonight 7-6 in the first of a two-game series.

The Rockabillys fell behind by as many as four runs, as they were down 5-1 by the end of the third inning. However, when the Bombers went up 6-3 in the bottom of the fifth off a solo home run, that’s when the Goats’ offense began to kick things into gear. Jackson McCoy‘s 2-RBI double spurred on a comeback that eventually tied the game at 6 in the seventh inning. The Bombers were able to tack on another run in the eighth inning, though, and the Rockabillys’ offense was stymied in the final frame en route to the one-run defeat.

Another story in this one was the errors from both sides, as the Rockabillys had five errors and the Bombers committed four. However, the Goats’ errors came back to haunt them, particularly late in the game, as the aforementioned run scored in the eighth inning by the Bombers that eventually proved to be the game-winner came courtesy of a Rockabilly error.

The Goats drop to 11-12 in the second half of the season and 28-22 overall with the loss. They’ll look for some revenge when these two teams meet again tomorrow at 5:30 PM CDT in Dubois County.
