BRENTWOOD, Tenn.– The Ohio Valley Conference revealed its first set of women’s soccer Athletes of the Week for 2024 and University of Tennessee at Martin standouts Mac Titus (Goalkeeper) and Parker Gelinas (Defender) secured honors for the Skyhawks.
This marks the second straight year that UT Martin has won the first OVC Goalkeeper and Defender of the Week awards under head coach Mike Varga. Titus becomes the ninth Skyhawk representative to ever win the OVC Goalkeeper of the Week honor while Gelinas is the 15th player in program history to be named OVC Defender of the Week.
In her first two matches in a UT Martin uniform, Titus collected 14 saves in 180 minutes played while only allowing one goal. The senior from Chelsea, Ala. matched her career-high with nine stops against Southern Illinois on Sunday, which clinched her first shutout of the season.
After missing two seasons due to injury, Gelinas returned to the pitch with impressive play on the backline. The senior out of Germantown, Tenn. played full-time in both contests, anchoring a defense that conceded one goal (fewest allowed by an OVC school who played two matches during the opening week of the season).
UT Martin will be back in action on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m. at Austin Peay.
