
MARTIN, Tenn. – Officially kicking off the 2024-25 University of Tennessee at Martin athletics season is the first-ever Skyhawkpalooza event, which will take place this Thursday, Aug. 29 at Pacer Pond on campus. Admission is free as the celebration is presented by the City of Martin, Town and Gown organization and Skyhawk Athletics.
A variety of food trucks will be on hand and will be open from 4 p.m. through at least 8:30 p.m. Registration begins at 5 p.m. as fans can pick up an activity scavenger hunt card, have a photo opportunity with Captain Skyhawk and visit the United Way Frazier’s Book Bus. The first 200 children who visit the registration tent and sign up will receive a free Captain’s Kid’s Club t-shirt as all children 12 and under can join the newly-formed Captain’s Kid Club for free.
The Aviators Marching Band will make a grand entrance at 5:10 p.m. and will be followed by a welcome from UT Martin Chancellor Dr. Yancy Freeman.
Several Skyhawk athletic programs will have their own tent setup for fun games throughout the evening, including face painting, pet the pony and 18-hole miniature golf. Fans can receive an official stamp at each tent for their scavenger cards.
Seeing Red, a popular band out of Memphis, will take the stage at 6 p.m. Fans are invited to bring their lawn chairs and set up in front of the stage to enjoy the music.
Fans are asked to turn in their completed scavenger hunt cards for the grand prize drawings at 8:15 p.m. Giveaways will take place throughout the event, including season tickets and other fun prizes.
This event additionally marks the grand debut of the official Skyhawk Team Shop as fans can stock up on new gear for the upcoming season.
