UT Martin Cross Country Opens The Season With Multiple Personal Bests

MEMPHIS, Tenn.– The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country team opened the season with a bang, recording multiple personal records at the Memphis Twilight Classic.
The women’s team (sixth place) finished with three PRs in the scoring five and two top-20 finishers while the men’s team rounded out the night with the complete scoring five in the top-20 and a runner-up team finish.
Maggie Roy set a new personal best of 18:44.71 which led the Skyhawks, crossing the finish line in 13th place. Freshman Danielle Mudd impressed with a 18:52.52 that landed her a spot in 16th place and a new PR. Reese Settle (19:27.63, PR), Gabby Brown (20:48.82) and Rita Eimer (20:57.78) wrapped up the season opener for UT Martin.
Luke Johnson crushed his former personal best in the four mile with a 20:21.68 which was good enough for 9th place. Additionally, Sam Shuman (20:35.40, 11th), Angus Monro (20:38.12, 12th, PR) and Brady Millikin (20:39.95, 13th, PR) put on a show to start their season. True Freshman Keagan Enicks also performed well with a time of 20:52.80 (PR) and a 20th place finish in his collegiate debut.
The Skyhawks will be back in action during the UT Martin XC OVC Preview on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Union City, Tenn.
