JACKSON, Tenn. – Union women’s soccer opened conference play with a dominant 3-0 win over Christian Brothers at Smith Memorial Complex on a Friday evening in which Rebekah Jackson tallied a goal and an assist and Lucia Revuelto facilitated her fourth goal of the season.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-2-0 (1-0-0) and are now one of five teams with three points in the GSC table. CBU (0-4-0) has been outscored 13-2.
After entering as a substitute in the 19th minute, Madison Woolridge scored Union’s game-winning goal at 26′, her second of the season and career tenth. Jackson’s assist was the first of her season.
Six minutes into the second half, the Lady Bulldogs added insurance with two goals in less than a minute. Claire Maxon’s first of the year at 51:21 and Rebekah Jackson’s third at 51:58 left the Lady Buccaneers entirely out of contention.
Union controlled possession for most of the contest, out-shooting CBU 20-8 and 11-3 on target. Keeper Kirsten LaVallee spent 90 minutes in goal, made two saves, and posted Union’s first clean sheet of the season.
Revuelto leads the GSC in assists through September 20, while Jackson is one of just three conference players with three or more goals. Jackson also co-leads the competition in points (7).
Union will next be tested on the road at Mississippi College (3-1-0), the #5 team in the nation, but one that just fell to West Florida by a 3-1 margin. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday in Clinton.
