Union Men’s Soccer Falls To Mississippi College On The Road

CLINTON, Miss. – Union men’s soccer was shut out for the first time in 2024 by Mississippi College on Friday night in a 3-0 road affair.

The Choctaws (3-3-1, 1-2-0 GSC) put six shots on target to Union’s four.

Union, which fell to 4-2-1 (0-1-1), had a good chance to take the lead when Kenny Nitzsche’s saved shot was deflected to Solomon Pela. Pela put the ball in the net but was called offside at 30′.

After 74 minutes of scoreless play, Luke Fanstone scored the only goal his Choctaws would need as the first of a three-goal flurry that quickly put Union out of reach.

GSC-leading scorer Lewis Matton, now with 10 goals, recorded a brace of insurance with scores in the 77th and 82nd minutes.

Noel PatakiMarc BadibangaDiego Medina, and Nitzsche tallied one shot on goal each.

Bulldog goalkeeper Patrick Schott made three saves.

Next for Union is a 3:00 p.m. match at Delta State on Monday.
