CLINTON, Miss. – Rebekah Jackson scored her fourth goal of the season and Lucia Revuelto tallied her GSC-leading fifth and sixth assists on Friday as the Union women’s soccer team drew with #20 Mississippi College by a 2-2 decision in Clinton.

Union (2-2-1, 1-0-1 GSC) opened the scoring in the 15th minute via the first goal of the season for sophomore defender Bethany Guinness. Revuelto sent a free kick to the back post, where it was left untouched for Guinness, who tapped it home with her right foot. Guinness became the fifth Lady Bulldog to score in 2024 with the goal.

Mississippi College (3-1-2, 0-1-2) struck the crossbar twice in the first half but was not able to score until minute 39, when a free kick into the center of the box was headed out and found Margherita Giubilato, who wrapped it into the upper-right corner to level the score.

The teams entered intermission 1-1 after 45 minutes of offensive pressure by the Choctaws. In the first half, Mississippi College out-shot Union 9-1 (3-1 on goal).

Union took another lead just under 10 minutes into the second period. It was Revuelto again, near midfield, sending a pass forward to Jackson, who broke away, beat the Choctaw keeper one-on-one, and found the back of a cavernous net.

Jackson leads all GSC players in points with nine, while sophomore Revuelto tops the conference assist column with six. Three Union goals through five matches this season have been a product of the Revuelto-Jackson connection. No other player in the GSC has more than three assists.

The Choctaws equalized again in the 74th minute off a free kick from about 30 yards out. A ball to the back post by Carolina Naman found Irene Lores, who headed the ball down and into the bottom right corner to settle the final score.

Union goalkeeper Kirsten LaVallee collected a career-high nine saves against 11 Mississippi College shots on goal during her 90 minutes between the posts.

Mississippi College out-shot Union 20-3 and 11-3 on target.

Union, now with a win and a draw in GSC play, is averaging 2.5 goals per conference game while holding opponents to just one.

The Lady Bulldogs will remain in the Magnolia State for a Monday meeting with Delta State. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
