
MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s rodeo squad piled up a plethora of points in the calf roping event over the weekend at Arkansas-Monticello as the Ozark Region schedule continued for the third consecutive week to begin the 2024-25 campaign.
The Skyhawk men’s team accrued 100 points over the three-day rodeo, tying for seventh alongside Murray State in the final standings. Northwest Mississippi and West Alabama each scored 655 points to top the men’s side while West Alabama’s 500 points paced the women’s standings.
Four separate UT Martin representatives registered points in the aforementioned calf roping event. Caleb Dunn came away with points in all three phases, placing third in average (26.0), fourth in the short go (12.6) and sixth in the opening round (13.4). Owen Larrick’s time of 11.1 seconds in the first go ranked fourth in the field while Caden Ussery’s 13.0 flat in the opening round was the fifth-best time. Colton Whittymore additionally earned sixth-place efforts in both average (33.5) and in the short round (17.7).
In team roping, Bentley Anthony and Jace Stigall each claimed points as a duo. They split fourth in the opening round with a time of 12.7 seconds while splitting fifth with a 12.7 average.
On the women’s side, Caysen Orman performed well in barrel racing. The freshman out of Charlotte, Tenn. split second in the short go (14.82 seconds) while placing fourth in average (29.98).
The Skyhawks return to the Natural State next weekend when they pay a visit to Magnolia, Ark. for a rodeo hosted by Southern Arkansas on Oct. 10-12.
