
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga – Union women’s golf finished fourth of 14 teams on Tuesday at The St. Simons Intercollegiate, hosted by Lincoln Memorial University at the par-72 King and Prince Golf Club.
Union finished with a team score of 936 (+72) after posting rounds of 310, 304 and 322.
Brooklyn Verdugo and Olivia Carroll posted Union’s low scores, tying for 17th place with +14 finishes.
Verdugo shot a 76 in the first two rounds and a 78 in her final session. The Union junior finished third in the 76-player field with a par five average of 4.83 and fourth overall with 10 birdies.
Carroll carded 74-78-80 and sunk a hole-in-one on the 117-yard fourth in round two, one of Union’s two eagles on the week.
Camille Burnette, who finished +24, found the other eagle on the 416-yard par 5 fifth hole in round two. Union was the only team in the field with multiple eagles.
Other Lady Bulldog finishers included Abigail Fernandez (T-31, +24), McKinnley Korte (T-46, +28) and Aubrey Payne (T-56, +33).
Korte ranked 13th in the field with a par 3 stroke average of 3.08, while on par 4s, Carroll led the finished 13th with a 4.30 mean.
Flagler College won the event with a team score of +2, led by Henriette Stranda, the only player to finish below par, who finished two-under.
This was Union’s final event of the 2024 fall season. The team will return to play in the spring of 2025.
