Union Men’s Cross Country Finishes 7th At GSC Championships

CLINTON, Miss. – Led by Aaron Fynaardt’s 20th-place finish, the Union men’s cross country team raced to a seventh-place finish among 11 teams at the GSC Championships on Saturday morning.

Fynaardt, who ran 8,000 meters in 25:03.2, was named to the All-Conference Second Team for his efforts, becoming the program’s first All-Conference selection since 2019.

Seniors Tristan Kelly and Ryan Keeton finished 36th and 37th, respectively, with times of 25:54.8 and 25:55.0.

Other Union runners included Stewart Brown (64th – 27:04.3), Noah Jinks (67th – 27:17.1), Caleb Cook (72nd – 27:25.6), Riley Garrison (78th – 27:52.2), Benjamin Blackwood (80th – 27:58.4), Joseph Hamilton (81st – 28:06.3) and Jonathan Litscher (91st – 29:04.3).

Alabama-Huntsville’s Sam Wilhelm won the event for the second-straight season, while Lee University took the team crown with four of the top six finishers.

Next for the team is the South Region Championships on Saturday, November 9.
