
JACKSON, Tenn. – On Oct. 26th, the Union University women’s basketball team won their exhibition game against the University of Tennessee Southern 119-65. The game, which was part of Union’s homecoming weekend, featured a huge crowd in Fred DeLay Gymnasium as the Lady Bulldogs put on an offensive show.
At the end of the first quarter, Union was ahead 32-22 and outscored Tennessee Southern 34-12 in the second to go into halftime with a 66-34 lead. The Lady Bulldogs scored 35 points in the third quarter and 18 points in the fourth to beat the Firehawks by 54.
Emily Jones led Union with 19 points in the game, while five other Lady Bulldogs also collected double-digit points, including Olivia Lee and Courtney Zensen with 15 each, Macey Lee with 13, Bethany Dillard with 12, and Kynidi Mason Striverson with 10. Keisharna Lucas hauled in the most rebounds with nine, and Jazalyn Anousinh topped the assists and blocks categories with 11 and two, respectively.
Union shot 49.4 percent (38-77) from the field, 45.8 percent (22-48) from three-point range, and 75 percent (21-28) from the free throw line.
Up next, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Billings, Mont., where they will officially open their season on Nov. 1 at 12:00 p.m. against Minot State University.
