Union Women’s Cross Country Finishes 5th At GSC Championships

CLINTON, Miss. – On Oct. 26, the Union University women’s cross-country team placed fifth in the Gulf South Conference Championships with a time of 1:59:40. This 6K race was held at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Miss., and was hosted by Mississippi College. It featured 12 teams and 99 runners.

Union was led by sophomore Victoria Markham, who placed ninth with a time of 22:36.4, and sophomore Addi Aguayo, who placed 11th with a time of 22:45.4. Markham earned First Team All-GSC for her efforts, and Aguayo raced her way to Second Team All-GSC. Markham took home Second Team All-GSC last year, making it her second straight season to earn All-GSC honors.

Mary Scott Tritt finished 23rd (23:49.3), Mila Bunton 50th (25:08.0), and Ayla Young 58th (25:21.7) to round out Union’s top five runners, followed by Cami Haas 64th (25:51.2), Sophie Crisler 73rd (26:25.0), and Heidi Munday 96th (31:53.6).

Up next, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Huntsville, Ala., for the NCAA D2 South Region Championships on Nov. 9.
