
MOREHEAD, Ky. — After a win Friday, the 18th-ranked University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team walked away with a split against the 15th-ranked Morehead State Eagles on the weekend., The Skyhawks fell to the host Eagle, 4684-4661, Saturday at the Button Rifle Range in Morehead. Despite the loss, the Skyhawks tied the school air rifle record with a 2347, to along with a 2314 in smallbore.
Sadie Palfrey once led all shooters in the match with an aggregate of 1177, shooting a 585 in smallbore and a 592 in air rifle. Alayna Walther also had a red-letter day setting new season benchmarks in smallbore at 586, air rifle at 584 and aggregate at 1170.
After five matches in three weeks, the Skyhawks will now take some well-deserved time off before returning to action on Nov. 22 in a shoulder-to-shoulder match with Jacksonville State at the Gamecock Rifle Range in Jacksonville, Alabama.
