
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Despite a valiant effort, perennial power Tennessee took down the UT Martin women’s basketball team, 90-50, Thursday night at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center in Knoxville.
The Skyhawks shot the ball well both from the field and from 3-point range Thursday night. UT Martin outshot Tennessee in the game, 42.3-percent to 39.3-percent, on field goals and 31.3-percent to 23.1-percent from 3-point range.
Kenley McCarn led UT Martin in the game with 13 points, to go along with team-highs of five assists and two steals, as well as four rebounds. Morgan Borgstadt was a spark off the bench for the Skyhawks, scoring nine points, two steals, two rebounds, one assist and a 5-for-6 performance at the free throw line. Shae Littleford added eight points for UT Martin, while Anaya Brown had six points and a team-high six rebounds.
The Skyhawks will have some time off before returning to action next Tuesday when they host the 17th-ranked Cardinals of Louisville. Tip-of from the Kathleen & Tom Elam Center in Martin is scheduled for 6 p.m.
