Lane Women’s Basketball Earns Opening Victory Over Mississippi College

CLINTON, Miss. – It took double overtime, but the Lane College women’s basketball team picked up a victory on opening week of the 2024-2025 season.

Trailing by two at the end of regulation, Breonna Carey hit a layup to tie the game and send it into overtime. As the extra period was winding down, the Dragons again found themselves down by two when Chantoryia Rivers hit a jumper in the paint with 12 seconds remaining to take the game into a second overtime.

Dyani Bernstine scored the first four points of double overtime before Mississippi College went on a 5-0 run to take a lead with under a minute remaining in the game.

Taylor Lattimore then buried a three with 28 seconds left to give Lane the lead and ultimately the win.

Two Dragons ended the game with double-doubles. Carey finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Bernstine had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Lane will be at home this Friday when they host Arkansas Baptist at J.F. Lane Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
