
JACKSON, Tenn. – Irene Arias, Tessa Erzen, Bethany Guinness, Kirsten LaVallee, Claire Maxon, and Lucia Revuelto of the Union University women’s soccer team have earned Academic All-District Honors, voted by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Revuelto has also been selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
The 2024 Academic All-District Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Arias, a 5-foot-5 sophomore defender from Barruelo de Santullan, Spain, was named Second Team All-GSC and TSWA Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 29. She has started 14 of the 15 games she has played in, scoring three goals with four shots on goal and accumulating 1,127 minutes. One of her goals was a game winner at Auburn University Montgomery on Oct. 27.
Erzen, a 5-foot-5 sophomore defender from Des Moines, Iowa, has started all 17 games for Union this season. She has played 1,304 total minutes with one shot on goal.
Guinness, a 5-foot-8 sophomore defender from Nashville, Tenn., has played in all 17 games so far this season with 10 starts. She has one goal and eight shots on goal in her 974 minutes played.
LaVallee, a 5-foot-8 senior goalkeeper from Spring Hill, Fla., was named GSC Goalkeeper of the Week for the week of Oct. 1. She has started all 17 games for Union this season, collecting 58 saves and six shutouts while playing almost 1,527 minutes.
Maxon, a 5-foot-9 graduate student forward from Henderson, Tenn., has started all 17 games so far with 1,121 minutes played. She has three goals, four assists, and eight shots on goal. Two of her goals were game winners.
Revuelto, a 5-foot-3 sophomore forward from Madrid, Spain, was named Second Team All-GSC and GSC All-Tournament. She has started 14 of the 15 games she has played. She leads Union in points (19), shots (31), shots on goal (18), and assists (7). She is tied for the most goals (6) and game-winning goals (2). Her seven assists is the second-most in the GSC.
Up next, the 4-seed Lady Bulldogs look ahead to their first ever NCAA D2 Women’s Soccer National Championships appearance as they prepare to face 5-seed Nova Southeastern University in the first round in Pensacola, Fla., on Nov. 22 at 3:00 p.m.
