
JACKSON, Tenn. – Lane College secured their sixth straight victory on Saturday afternoon with a 65-55 victory over Blue Mountain.
First Half: Blue Mountain started the game strong, jumping to an early 17-8 lead by the end of the first quarter. Charnita Brooks led the way for the Blue Mountain squad, scoring 16 points, including 4 three-pointers. However, Lane quickly responded in the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 23-14. Chantoryia Rivers (20 points) was a standout for Lane, showcasing her all-around scoring ability, including going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. By halftime, Lane had a slim 31-29 lead.
Second Half: Lane’s dominance grew in the second half. After a slow third quarter where both teams struggled to score, Lane finished strong in the fourth. A key part of their success came from the free-throw line, where they shot an impressive 9-for-10 in the final period. Despite Blue Mountain’s attempts to keep pace, they were unable to find consistent shooting, especially in the fourth quarter, where they shot just 20% from the field (3-for-15).
Blue Mountain’s offensive struggles in the second half, combined with Lane’s balanced attack, saw the lead swell to double digits by the final buzzer. Dyani Bernstine and Taylor Lattimore added key contributions with 11 points each, while Breonna Carey chipped in with 9.
