BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Union’s Judson Bjornstad has earned the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week Award presented by Truist as a result of his performance during the week of Dec. 9-15. This is Union’s 10th Freshman of the Week honor since the beginning of the 2023-2024 season and Bjornstad’s second with his first coming on Dec. 3.
Bjornstad, a 6-foot-8 forward from Murfreesboro, Tenn., started Union’s only game this week in which they won 74-70 against Christian Brothers University. He played 33 minutes, shooting 5-13 from the field and 4-6 from the free throw line to put up 14 points, Union’s second most in the game. He had the most rebounds and blocks with six and two, respectively. He also added two assists and one steal.
Up next, Bjornstad and the Bulldogs travel to Montgomery, Ala., to face Auburn University Montgomery on Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
