
JACKSON, Tenn. – Four Bulldogs scored in double-figures, and Union topped Lee 74-60 in the Fred DeLay Gymnasium on Thursday night to win its second straight game and improve to 9-7 (5-5).
Leading 50-44 midway through the second half, Union strung together a 17-4 run to take its largest lead of the game at 64-48. Lee never led after the first eight minutes.
Parker Applegate recorded his fifth double-double of the season and fourth in five games with 16 rebounds and 11 points. Kaleim Taylor led all scorers with 14, while CJ Jackson had 12 and Devaki Garr 11.
The Bulldogs shot 10-20 from beyond the arc, their first time shooting .500 or better from three in conference play this season and second overall. Isaiah Victor (3-3), Applegate (2-2), Taylor (1-1) and Jack Shackelford (1-1) were perfect on longballs; Garr went 3-8.
Union held Lee to its season-low in shooting percentage (23-60, .383) and second-lowest three-point shooting mark at 4-23 (.174). Union finished 24-61 (.393) from the floor, the second-lowest Bulldog mark of the season, and just 14-41 (.341) on two-point attempts.
The Bulldogs remain perfect when holding opponents under 76 points (7-0).
Jeremiah Littlepage and Judson Bjornstad each had a pair of blocks, and Union tied its season-high of five.
Union set its season-high in offensive rebounds (19), four more than the 15 the Bulldogs grabbed against Bethel on November 19.
Jackson’s double-figure scoring night was the 15th of his season. Applegate had his 11th, while Taylor and Garr notched their ninth and fourth, respectively.
Union is 11-11 against Lee since joining the GSC in 2012 but has won three straight and five of six.
The Bulldogs will play next against Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday in the Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
