UT Martin Rifle Team Returns To Action With Win Over UAB

MARTIN, Tenn. – In its first action in nearly two months, the University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team picked up a 4637-4547 win over UAB Saturday at the Skyhawk Rifle Range in Martin, Tennessee. The Skyhawks fired a 2305 in smallbore to begin the day, then rounded out the match with 2332 in air rifle.

Sadie Palfrey led UT Martin across all three categories on the day with a 585 in smallbore and a 590 in air rifle for an aggregate score of 1175. Alayana Walther was next in line on both guns for the Skyhawks, firing a 581 in smallbore and a 585 in air rifle.

Liam Tegeler and Joey Kovach rounded out the smallbore counter for UT Martin at 571 and 568, respectively, while Aubrey Chenoweth and Tegeler were the other two counters in air rifle at 581 and 576. Outside of the counters, Rachel Haines turned in a career-best in air rifle at 579, while Jeffrey Bourassa tied a season-high in air rifle at 575 and tied a career-high in aggregate scoring with an 1137.

The 2025 OVC Rifle Championships will be held Feb. 1 at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Kentucky, hosted by Murray State. This year’s championship will see the event moved from its previous two-day format to a one-day affair.
