
JACKSON, Tenn. – On Saturday afternoon, the No. 17/15 Union University women’s basketball team won their sixth straight game and 15th conference matchup this season. Five Lady Bulldogs scored double-digits in the 92-69 victory over Auburn University Montgomery, including Bethany Dillard, Alexis Callins, Olivia Lee, Macey Lee, and Jeremia Montgomery. Union is now 20-3 overall (15-1 GSC), while AUM drops to 10-12 overall (8-9 GSC).
Union led for almost 39 minutes in the game with their largest lead being 74-45 with 8:58 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Lady Bulldogs outshot the Warhawks 46.1 percent to 39.3 percent from the field and 37.1 percent to 14.3 percent from three-point range, but AUM shot 63.9 percent from the foul line to Union’s 60 percent.
Senior Bethany Dillard put on a show from beyond the arc with five makes out of six attempts. Olivia Lee and Alexis Callins, who have been Union’s top scorers in conference play, each scored 13 points in the game. Lee also grabbed a team high nine boards, one shy of recording her second career double-double. Jazalyn Anousinh and Emily Jones dished out four assists apiece, and Anousinh tied her career high in steals with a team high five in the game.
AUM’s Danielle Luckey scored 11 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in the game for a double-double. Allasha Dudley led the Warhawks with 14 points of her own, followed by Carrington Jones with 12 and Navaeh Small and Luckey with 11 each.
Up next, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Livingston, Ala., for their second matchup of the season with the University of West Alabama. Tipoff is scheduled for Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
