MARTIN, Tenn.- University of Tennessee at Martin standout Luke Johnson was rewarded for his strong performance in the season opener by being named the Ohio Valley Conference Male Cross Country Runner of the Week.
The Oxford, Miss. native nailed a personal record of 20:39.90 in the four-mile race at the City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic. This led Johnson to 17th place in the competition and helped the UT Martin men’s team earn fifth place in the season opener.
This is the first career OVC Runner of the Week honor for the reigning OVC Freshman of the Year and the first for the Skyhawks since Ryan Ford captured the accolade back in Feb. of 2021.
The Skyhawks will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday, Sept. 16 for the John McNichols Cross Country Invitational.
