ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced its weekly volleyball awards and Kyra Gaston was named Offensive Player of the Week while Amirah Alexander was tabbed Setter and Newcomer of the Week.
Gaston recorded 50 kills and 59.5 points during the Dragons opening weekend that included a 3-0 win over Kentucky State to move to 1-0 in conference play. The Texas native had a game-high 14 kills against the Thorobreds with a .423 attack percentage while also registering two blocks and one ace.
Alexander collected 68 assists in an opening weekend tournament for Lane, including 19 against conference rival Kentucky State. She also registered 12 aces and 14 total points from the setter position.
