Union Women’s Soccer Battles To a Draw With Gwinnett College

JACKSON, Tenn.—On Sep. 18th, the Union University women’s soccer team tied their match with Georgia Gwinnett College 2-2. The Lady Bulldogs are now 2-2-1 overall, and the Grizzlies are 4-1-3 overall.

The game was scoreless until the 47th minute when Union’s Madison Woolridge won a penalty and scored it. The Grizzlies tied the game in the 66th minute when they scored a penalty of their own. In the 80th minute, Union’s Fara Perez scored a goal to put the Lady Bulldogs ahead. Georgia Gwinnett tied the game again in the 90th minute when Victoria Watson scored a goal, assisted by Kyara Armenta.

Union led in shots 19-13 and corners 8-5. Georgia Gwinnett had more fouls with seven. Each team had eight shots on goal and six saves.

Bethany Guinness and Irene Arias had the most shots for the Lady Bulldogs with three each. Woolridge, Ines Gama, and Lucia Revuelto all had two shots. Both of Woolridge’s shots and two of Guinness’s shots were on goal, while Gama, Revuelto, Arias, and Perez each had one shot on goal. Rylee Iorio played all 90 minutes in goal with six saves.

The Lady Bulldogs’ next game is a home matchup with Delta State University on Sep. 22nd at 5:00 p.m.
