
JACKSON, Tenn – Union University’s Women’s Volleyball team took a trip to the sunshine state to compete in the South Region Crossover. The South Region Crossover is an event that allows Gulf South Conference institutions to compete with institutions from the Sunshine State Conference. The event was held in Orlando, Florida.
Union lost all three matches to Barry University (3-0), Palm Beach Atlantic University (3-1), and Florida Tech University (3-0). Following the event’s matches Union’s record stands at 3-20 overall (2-7 GSC).
The Lady Bulldogs lost their first matchup Friday Night to Barry University by a score of 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-10). Reese Owens collected 8 kills (.350), 1 ace, and 2 digs. Gracie Tacker led Union in assists with 11 and digs with 6.
On Saturday, Union fell to Palm Beach Atlantic University 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 25-12, 25-19) and Florida Tech 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 29-27). In the match versus Palm Beach Atlantic Marie Torosian led Union in kills with 9 (.115). Gracie Tacker tallied 18 assists. Davey Slaughter served 3 aces and had a strong defensive outing that resulted in 18 digs. Versus Florida Tech Vanja Stefanovic (.368) and Jordan Moore (.471) tied for the team lead in kills with 9. Davey Slaughter collected 17 more digs in the match. Sydney Whittaker tallied 6 kills and 1 solo block. Gracie Tacker and Ashley Pruitt tied for the team lead in assists with 13.

The Lady Bulldog’s next match is scheduled for October 25th in Rome, Georgia to take on Shorter University. Union will return to the Fred DeLay Gymnasium for their next home game on October 28th versus Lee University. Admission will be free to the public courtesy of FirstBank.
