
JACKSON, Tenn. – Saturday morning, Union’s Women’s Cross Country team competed in the NCAA DII South Region Crossover 6k event in Montevallo, Alabama. Union finished 10th out of 15 NCAA DII programs. This meet featured programs such as #6 Lee University, #18 University of Tampa, and #23 Mississippi College.
As a team Union ran a total time of 2:47:40 and averaged a time of 23:57.
Ayla Young (Sophomore) was the Lady Bulldog’s best runner finishing with a time of 22:05.7 (32nd), which would be the fastest 6k time in Lady Bulldog’s history. Talented freshman Victoria Markham finished with a time of 22:21.8 (40th), which is good for third all-time in the 6k event in Lady Bulldog’s history. Mary Scott Tritt ran a 23:09 (62nd), Sydnee Meadows a 23:34.4 (76th), Holly Blackwood a 24:48.4 (93rd), Lindsey Dismuke a 25:42.8 (99th), and Cami Haas a 25:58.3 (101st).
This marks the end of the fall season for our Lady Bulldogs who placed in the top 5 twice this. year and in the top 10 three times. This team finished fourth at the GSC tournament and received 3 Freshman of the Week awards (Victoria Markham 2, Addi Aguayo 1). Victoria Markham and Ayla Young were also honored with Second Team All-GSC selections for the fall competition season.
