JACKSON, Tenn. — Leaders of the Jackson-Madison School System and Liberty Tech High School announced Monday afternoon the hiring of Robert Gillard as the next head football coach of the Crusaders.
After spending the last three seasons as an assistant at North Side, Gillard steps into the position following the departure of Scott Akin, bringing previous years of head coaching experience from Sheffield High School (Memphis) and Austin-East High School (Knoxville).
A Jackson native, Gillard began his playing career as an All-State linebacker for JCM. He then went on to compete at the collegiate level at Holmes Community College and Lane College.
Gillard now takes over a Liberty program that did not win a game in the 2023 season.
