
JACKSON, Tenn. – Union entered the win column for the first time in 2024 with their 7-4 victory over Lane College. The Bulldog’s record now sits at 1-3 overall on the young season. Lane’s record dropped to 1-4 overall following the loss.
Brody Mann started on the mound for Union, in a game where six pitchers threw. Ethan Orwig (1-0) picked up the victory for the Bulldogs after getting out of a tough jam with a strikeout in the top of the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Union took the lead off a Mitch Sisk single that proved to be the winning run in the Bulldog’s 6-4 win. Lane Evans shut the Dragons down over two scoreless frames to end the game. As a team, the Bulldogs collected nine hits and scored seven runs. Of the nine hits, four were doubles (Carson Chavies, Alec Hardy, Blake Barrett, Elijah Ramsey).
Alec Hardy had a solid evening at the plate, collecting two hits (1 extra-base hit) and two runs batted in. Hardy also collected a stolen base in the winning effort.
Up next, Union will host Washburn University at Fesmire Field. The first game of the four-game set is scheduled to begin on February 8th at 4:00 p.m. General admission is free courtesy of FirstBank.
