
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Bulldogs #6 Canyon Pace hits two homers in 9-8 (10 innings) victory over Washburn University.
Union’s record moves to 2-3 overall while Washburn’s record falls to 2-3 overall.
Sam Poindexter (no decision) made a gritty start for the Bulldogs on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits. Ryan Evans picked up the win in this one, pitching three innings and allowing two earned runs on two hits.
Washburn, who trailed until the final innings, tied the game on a two-run homer off the bat of Payton Mcharg. Mcharg hit three homers in the loss.
Union was led offensively by Sophomore catcher Canyon Pace. Pace, a native of Russellville, Alabama, went 2-5 with two-run homer and a solo homer. Pace’s second homer was a game winner for McGehee’s 2024 squad. Both homers were the first and second of Pace’s young career.
Carson Chavies also had a big night at the dish as well, going 3-4 with a double and a run batted in. The top six hitters in the Bulldog’s lineup combined for eight hits, all nine runs, and seven runs batted in.
The Bulldogs will suit up again tomorrow afternoon for a double-header with Washburn at 1:00 p.m.
