BRENTWOOD, Tenn.– University of Tennessee at Martin baseball standout Mac Danford was awarded with Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honors after an outstanding week against Memphis and Middle Tennessee.

This marks the first time in program history a player has won three OVC Player of the Week awards in their career.

Danford batted .526 with 10 hits in 19 at-bats while smacking three doubles and two home runs. The Grand Ridge, Fla. native composed a 1.591 OPS by slugging 1.000 and holding a .591 on-base percentage.

The third baseman recorded four multi-hit games this week with his best performance coming in the form of a 3-for-3 day at the plate in a run-rule victory over Middle Tennessee in Game 1 of the weekend series. The senior had four RBI’s and one double to help the Skyhawks prevail.

In the team’s first win over Memphis since 2010, Danford landed two hits and blasted a home run in the 10-7 triumph over the Tigers.

Danford has gotten off to a blazing start in 2024, ranking in the top-10 in the OVC in doubles (five, second), RBI’s (15, third), batting average (.390, sixth), slugging percentage (.659, sixth), total bases (27, seventh), hits (16, ninth) and on-base percentage (.480, 10th).

UT Martin will be back in action on Wednesday, March 6 at 2 p.m. when they play UAB on the road.
