Lane College Softball Earns 2 Wins On Day 1 Of SIAC Crossover

HOOVER, Ala. – The Lane College softball team picked up two wins on day one of the SIAC Crossover on Tuesday, led by pitchers Autumn Phillips and Jersey Cabana.

Phillips (4-3) threw a complete game one-hitter in game one, shutting out Benedict en route to a 6-0 victory. The junior from Harriman, Tenn. walked just one batter while striking out six.

Halle Koger had a two-RBI double and Kaylee Stinnett recorded a RBI double to lead the Dragons offensively.

Game two saw Cabana (7-2) turn in a dominate performance over the number one team from the East Division, Albany State. Cabana went the distance, pitching 7.0 innings and walking only one batter while striking out five.

Penelope Foote went 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI. Takya Garrett registered a two-RBI double for Lane.

The Dragons take on Fort Valley State and Clark Atlanta on Wednesday at the Hoover Met Complex. Game one is scheduled for 10:00 am.
