
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team dropped all three games to Auburn University at Montgomery over the weekend, moving their record to 12-17 overall (6-12 GSC).
Game one: AUM 6, UU 5
In game one of the three game set, AUM walked the Bulldogs off in the bottom of the ninth inning with a double to right center. The Bulldogs were led on the mound by Sam Poindexter, who received a no-decision for his seven-inning, five-run performance. The Bulldog offense scored five runs on nine hits and an error. Freshman outfielder Elijah Ramsey led the Bulldogs in hits, going 3-4 with a run batted in and a run scored. Carson Chavies also had a multi-hit game, driving in two runs on a pair of singles.
Game two: AUM 10, UU 3
Eli Snelson (2-4) took the loss in game two of the doubleheader, surrendering six earned runs on six hits and no errors. The Bulldog offense scored three runs on eight hits and no errors. Grant Ross clubbed in sixth homer of the year, driving in three runs in the 10-3 loss Saturday afternoon. Colby Davis collected a multi-hit performance with a pair of singles. Seven of the nine Bulldog starters collected a hit, including Alec Hardy and Caden Cutrell. Hardy and Cutrell both doubled in the game.
Game three: AUM 10, UU 4
Noah Toney (1-3) got the start in the finale of this weekend’s series, coming off a TSWA Pitcher of the Week award for his performance in last weekend’s game three decider versus Shorter University. Toney took the loss in this one, surrendering five runs on nine hits and an error in the 10-4 loss. The Bulldog offense scored four runs on nine hits and no errors. Will Allen Smith led the way for the Bulldog lineup, collecting two doubles out of the lead-off spot. Elijah Ramsey, Alec Hardy, and Colby Davis all drove in a run during the Sunday matchup versus the Warhawks.
