MARTIN, Tenn.– After a masterful performance against Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Illinois, University of Tennessee at Martin baseball standout Tristan Walton was named as the league’s Pitcher of the Week.

The senior southpaw becomes the first Skyhawk to win the award since Rhett Fetner took home the honor in 2022. A native of Clay, Ala., Walton set a season-high in innings pitched, going seven deep while fanning a career-high 10 batters and issuing only one walk in UT Martin’s 5-4 triumph over the Panthers in 11 innings

Walton has been one of the top arms in the OVC this spring ranking among the best in strikeouts (second, 45), ERA (third, 2.77), innings pitched (third, 39.0) and opposing batting average (fifth, .234). With two starts in conference play under his belt, the senior holds a 1.42 ERA with a .205 opposing batting average while striking out 15 batters against league opponents.

Walton and the Skyhawks travel to Columbia, Mo. for a two-game midweek series against Missouri starting tomorrow at 6 p.m. and ending Wednesday, April 3 at 3 p.m. Both games will be streamed on SEC Network+.
