UT Martin Rodeo Teams Finish Regular Season At Northwest Mississippi Community College Rodeo

SENATOBIA, Miss. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rodeo squads wrapped up the 2023-24 regular season over the weekend, taking part in the annual rodeo hosted by Northwest Mississippi Community College.

The Skyhawk cowboys accrued 80 points to place 10th in the men’s standings while the UT Martin women’s squad tallied 60 points to rank eighth on the team leaderboard.

Clint Southworth recorded points in calf roping as his time of 10.1 seconds in the opening round was good enough for fourth place. He later teamed up with Nolan Gregory to collect points in two phases of team roping, finishing fourth in the short go (10.8) and fifth in average (23.9).

Four Skyhawk cowgirls earned points in barrel racing, led by Allie Sherman. The junior from Walnut Ridge, Ark. finished second in average (26.8) after splitting second in the opening round (13.29) and placing third in the short go (13.51). Josie Luttrell additionally provided points in all three phases, finishing fourth in average (27.0), fourth in the first go (13.3) and splitting sixth in the second round (13.7). Savannah Moran was the third UT Martin representative to deliver points in all three phases, placing fifth in average (27.06), fifth in the short go (13.61) and splitting fifth in the opening round (13.45). Madde Shelton also tallied points in the short go as her time of 13.7 seconds split sixth.

The Skyhawks will now turn their attention to the 76th Annual College National Finals Rodeo, which will once again be held in Casper, Wyo. on June 9-15.
