COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Lane College softball team wrapped up another historic campaign on Wednesday with a loss to Spring Hill in the 2024 SIAC Championship game. The runner up finish is the best in program history.

After a close play at the plate did not go Lane’s way in game one, the Dragons were forced into the ‘if necessary’ game. The Badgers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings but Lane rallied and tied the game in the 4th inning with RBI hits from Jayden McCarty and Joslyn Soinila.

Spring Hill held the Dragons offense the following three innings and were able to push across the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Shawna McNair led the way at the plate for the Lane offense throughout the tournament, hitting .545 over five games played and a .643 on-base percentage.

Jullianna Saint Hilaire was named to the All-Tournament team after her defensive play in the outfield and team-high four RBI.

Jersey Cabana was also named All-Tournament, finishing 2-0 and carrying a 1.56 ERA in 18.0 innings pitched. Additionally, Cabana picked up a save in the second round win over Spring Hill.

The Dragons finish the year with 32 wins, the second most in school history, and run their three year win total under Head Coach Joel Worthington to 93.

The 2024 squad set a new school record for conference wins and winning percentage, collecting 14 SIAC victories on the year while also setting a team record for stolen bases with 132.
