
MEDINA, Tenn — OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM SOUTH GIBSON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL:
Baron Jimmerson, head softball coach at South Gibson County High School, has decided to step down as the head coach for girls’ softball. Coach Jimmerson lead the Lady Hornets to district and regional championships this past season, as well as a trip to the TSSAA state tournament for only the second time in the school’s history. During his time at SGCHS, Jimmerson won 3 district championships and his teams were ranked as one of the top in West Tennessee.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank SGC for their support they provided to me while working with the softball program. I wish the girls and the entire school organization much continued success”, said Coach Jimmerson.
SGC Athletic Director Mark Dunn added, “We at South Gibson would like to thank Coach Jimmerson for everything he has done over the past 7 years or so with our girls’ softball program. It has been a joy and privilege to work with him and to see the great success that his teams have had. He will definitely be missed, but his stamp on this program will continue for many years to come.”
Stepping into the head coaching position will be Aly Harris. Harris, formerly Aly Walker, is a graduate of SGCHS and UT Chattanooga, where she was an All-Conference player. Harris also served as a grad assistant at UT Martin before returning to her alma mater as an assistant coach for the past 2 years.
“I am so thankful to have the opportunity to coach at a school that holds such a special place in my heart. The future is bright for the Lady Hornets and I am grateful to be a part of it”, commented Harris. “I want to thank Coach Jimmerson for his dedication and commitment to the softball program over the last several years. Our softball team would not be where it is today without him. I am forever grateful to have coached and learned from him.”
Jimmerson will now take over as the head softball coach at Crockett County High School.
