Union Women’s Golf Finishes 3rd At Full Moon BBQ Invitational

CALERA, Ala. – The Union University women’s golf team posted a third place finish at the fall season opening Full Moon BBQ Invitational hosted by the University of Montevallo. The two-round event was played at the Timberline Golf Club and featured eight teams with 42 golfers.

Union’s Brooklyn Verdugo posted a runner-up finish, earning all-tournament honors. She fired a two round 145, including a 69 in the first round. She was tied for first place after Monday’s first round.

Union was in second place after round one and dropped one spot to finish third. Union shot +16 in the first round and +19 in the second round, finishing at 603 for the tournament. Montevallo won the event at 586, while West Florida shot 599. Union finished ahead of Christian Brothers (4th), Columbus State (5th), Trevecca Nazarene (6th), Spring Hill (7th), and Shorter (8th).

Other Union finishers included Abigail Fernandez in 12th (+8), Camille Burnette (+13), Aubrey Payne (+15), and Cecily Berry (+19).

Up next for Union will be The City With Spirit Fall Classic hosted by Lee University, September 16-17.
