
JACKSON, Tenn. – Union women’s soccer used a Lucia Revuelto brace and two goals early in the second half to defeat Spring Hill College and continue its unbeaten run in conference play with a 3-2 win at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex Friday night.
Union, now 6-2-2 (5-0-2), has 17 points – 2.43 per match – and sits in third in the conference behind West Florida (7-0-1, 22) and Montevallo (7-2-0, 21). With the loss, the Lady Badgers fall to 2-4-2 and seventh in the conference. Union lies second in the conference in points per match, just beyond Montevallo’s 2.33.
Revuelto opened the scoring in minute 13 directly off a corner kick. The sophomore forward, Union’s chief corner taker, wrapped the ball into the corner of the net to give the home side a 1-0 advantage with her third goal of the season.
Spring Hill answered at 33′ with Sofie Jiminez Garcia’s strike after a corner found her near the far post. The teams took a 1-1 score to halftime, though Union had out-shot the Lady Badgers 9-2.
Union opened the second frame with a pair of goals in immediate succession, making the score 2-1 on Revuelto’s second of the game and fourth of the season at 47′ and Carly VanGiesen’s career-first a minute later.
Spring Hill gained an offensive footing late in the contest, earning a consolation at 79′, but could not find the equalizer. Union won its fourth game straight, scoring three goals for the fourth time in 2024.
Union has allowed two or more goals five times this season and is now 1-2-2 in those contests.
Revuelto leads the conference in points per game (1.50) and assists (7) and is second in total points with 15 in 10 games.
