UT Martin Rifle Team Comes Up Just Short To Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team turned in a sound performance at the R.F Fogleman Rifle Range Saturday but ultimately fell to host Memphis, 4694-4629.

The Skyhawks fired a 2287 in smallbore to begin the day, led by a 579 from Sadie Palfrey. Alayna Walther was one off Palfrey with a 578, to go along with a team-high 29 centers. Joseph Kovach and Liam Tegeler rounded out the smallbore scoring for the Skyhawks at 568 and 562, respectively. Jesse Chamberlain also had a strong first event for UT Martin as he a fired a 567.

In air rifle, Aubrey Chenoweth led the way for UT Martin with a 590, while Palfrey used a team-high 42 centers to score a 587. Kovach was next in line for the Skyhawks at 583 while Tegeler closed out UT Martin’s day at 582. Outside of the counters, Rachel Haines was the top scorer in air rifle for the Skyhawks at 578.

The Skyhawks return to action tomorrow when they take on former Ohio Valley Conference rival Jacksonville State at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Ky. at 9 a.m.
