
MARTIN, Tenn.- Hosting its first Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships in west Tennessee since 2004, the University of Tennessee at Martin teams put forth an exceptional effort while battling for the conference crown.
The women’s team finished eighth with two top-20 finishers while the men’s team landed in third place with four All-OVC honorees (most of any men’s team at the competition) and four personal bests recorded.
In the women’s 6k race, Maggie Roy led the Skyhawks with a 15th place finish and a time of 22:32.1 while freshmen Reese Settle crossed the line at 22:34.1 which was good enough for 17th place. Danielle Mudd (23:24.4), Rita Eimer (23:26.5) and Gabby Brown (24:00.1) also ran well for UT Martin.
The men’s team was led by Sam Shuman in the 8k who finished on the All-OVC first team for the second straight season after earning fifth place from a time of 24:27.0. Angus Monro brought home his first all-conference honor as he was named a second teamer for his ninth place finish and PR of 24:36.7. The OVC Male Freshman of the Year Keagan Enicks added to his trophy case with an all-conference second team nod from a PR of 24:38.8 which gave him 10th place. Senior Brady Millikin was tabbed an All-OVC second teamer following his 12th place finish which came from a PR of 24:41.3. Colton King ran a personal best of 25:40.3 to round out the day for the Skyhawks.
UT Martin will conclude the year at the NCAA South Regionals on Friday, Nov. 15 in Tallahassee, Fla.
