BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Reese Owens of the Union University volleyball team has been named to the All-GSC Second Team, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Owens, a four-year starter from Jonesboro, Arkansas, posted career-bests in most major statistical categories this season, including kills, digs, aces and points.

Her total of 47 aces ranks third in the GSC, while her 371.0 points come in eighth. The outside hitter collected 299 kills (10th) and was also a defensive presence, recording a conference-ninth 340 digs.

Owens posted 14 games of 10 or more kills this season; in 12 of these, she also reached double-figures in digs. Against Christian Brothers on October 3, she secured one of just a half-dozen individual performances in GSC matches with six or more aces.

Owens recorded her season- and career-high in kills when she notched 18 at Lee on October 29.

The Lady Bulldogs (10-19, 8-12 GSC) are in Nashville tonight on a mission to keep their season alive against Trevecca Nazarene in the first round of the GSC tournament. Union won five of its final seven regular-season games to secure a postseason berth as the 7-seed. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.

Since arriving on campus in 2021, Owens has played in 121 matches and 428 sets, recording 954 kills, 105 aces, 838 digs, 148.0 blocks, and 1147.5 points.
