INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Despite the University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit to tie the game at the end of the third quarter, a dominant fourth quarter lifted the Bulldogs past the Skyhawks, 70-60, Thursday night at Historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Bulldogs used a 22-14 second quarter to give themselves a 10-point lead at halftime, 37-27. However, the third quarter belonged to UT Martin, as the Skyhawks put up 26 points in the frame, compared to just 12 by Butler. UT Martin led by as many as seven in the final stanza, but the Bulldogs put together a 17-2 run to end the game, picking up a hard-fought win in the process.

Despite the loss, the Skyhawks shot season-highs in all three phases of the game, shooting 49.0-percent (25-51) from the floor, 50.0-percent (6-12) from 3-point range and were perfect at the free throw line for the first time this season, going 4-for-4.

Anaya Brown led three Skyhawks in double-figures Thursday with 13 points, while Kenley McCarn and Shae Littleford followed with 12 and 11, respectively. Brown also led UT Martin on the boards in the game with six, while sister Kaitlyn and Kenley McCarn dished out a team-high of three assists each.

UT Martin will now take a break from action, shifting the focus from the court to the classroom for finals week. The Skyhawks return to action Sunday, December 15 against Arkansas State at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center at 1 p.m.
