UT Martin Track Teams Kick off Season With Strong Performances At Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn.– The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field teams got its regular season started today with a strong performance at the competitive Vanderbilt Invitational meet.
Top Performers
  • After being named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference second team in cross country, Angus Monro ran a personal-best 8:26.40 in the 3,000 meter.
  • Senior Brady Millikin raced his way to a new PR in the 3,000m with a time of 8:37.75.
  • Reigning OVC Cross Country Freshman Male Athlete of the Year Keagan Enicks got his track and field season off on the right foot with a PR of 8:31.50 during the 3,000m.
  • Newcomer Hank Fisher crushed the school record in the shot put with a launch of 13.13m.
  • Braxton Sharp sprinted his way to a new PR in the 60m by finishing with a time of 7.16.
  • JaDerrika Welch-Fields started her junior season by recording a PR of 9.97 for the 60m hurdles.
  • On the heels of a successful cross country season, freshman Reese Settle landed a PR of 5:11.47 in the one mile race.
  • Freshman Eliana Oquendo took home two PRs on the day with a leap of 4.76 in the long jump and a time of 1:00.82 in the 400m.
  • Meg Wiginton started her Skyhawk career by setting a PR for the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.65.
 
UT Martin will be back in action in two weeks during the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 1).
