
LIVINGSTON, Ala. – On Thursday night, the No. 15/13 Union University women’s basketball won 91-76 over the University of West Alabama. This was Union’s 16th conference win so far this season, bringing them to 21-3 overall (16-1 GSC). West Alabama falls to 3-19 overall (3-15 GSC).
Olivia Lee and Emily Jones were Union’s top shooters in the contest with 21 points and 20 points, respectively. Lee’s total is the second-most in a single game in her career. Lee also grabbed the most rebounds for Union with eight.
The Lady Bulldogs led for the majority of the game, winning the first three quarters and pulling out a 15-point victory. Union also forced 30 West Alabama turnovers to 11 of their own. However, West Alabama outshot Union 50 percent to 48 percent from the field, 37.5 percent to 32.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 90 percent to 52.6 percent from the foul line.
Shylee Morrison dished out four assists to lead Union, and Keisharna Lucas had the most steals with four, which ties her career high and season high. Olivia Lee had Union’s only block.
Kendall Lacoste led West Alabama with 29 points and eight boards. Kaedre Denson scored 18 points, and Callie Cowan put up 15 points in the game.
Up next, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Huntsville, Ala., to face Chargers of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, who are 15-3 in GSC play and sit in second place in the standings. Tipoff is scheduled for Feb. 15 at 2:00 p.m.
