UT Martin Track Teams Establish New School Records At PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field teams put on an impressive display at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational which featured three new school records being established.
 
Top Performers
  • For the second time this season, Hank Fisher broke the men’s indoor shot put record. This time the Milan, Tenn. native did it with a toss of 13.16 meters to register his name among the program greats.
  • Angus Monro established a new personal best and a new school record with a blistering time of 4:09.25 in the one mile for fifth place.
  • JaDerrika Welch-Fields competed in the pentathlon which featured the 60m hurdles, 800m, high jump, long jump and shot put. Welch-Fields totaled a school record 3,059 points with a leap of 1.64m in the high jump and a total of 4.53m in the long jump. In the shot put, she had a toss of 7.77m and logged a time of 2:29.38 in the 800m. Finally, she crossed the finish line at 9.78 in the 60m hurdles.
 
“We had some good performances across the team as a whole,” Skyhawk track and field head coach Jolyta Henderson said. “It was great to see the Freshmen have more confidence in their events. The milers had some very impressive results and I’m excited to see what they do next. We’re most definitely moving in the right direction.”
UT Martin will now gear up for the Music City Challenge from Feb. 14-15 in Nashville, Tenn.
